John Zahn, one of the area's premier classic rock guitarist, was born February 7th 1952 in the heart of Washington, DC. He has been blazin' a trail up and down the Eastern Seaboard since 1969 amazing audiences with rare instrumental mastery.
The variety of expression and sheer power of his guitar is Intense, Soulful, Full of Fire & Passion.

When Chuck Berry reached out from the radio in 1962 with Johnny B. Goode, 10 year old John Zahn knew then that owning a guitar was a necessity. He would sit in his room  for hours listening to The Beatles & Chuck Berry, playing along, getting the feel of his guitar and making it his own. In those early years, John developed his style by studing masters such as Jimi Hendrix, Otis Rush, Robin Trower, Jeff Beck, Tommy Bolin, and Stevie Ray Vaughn among others. Eager to learn everything he could about his beloved guitar John sought a music education from Jazz instrumentalist and founder of the Hangmen, Tom Guernsey and Jack Cassidy of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna. This incredible learning experience fed the early seeds of John's love for teaching guitar. By continuing to educate others seeking to master the guitar as he does, John's knowledge of music continues to deepen as does his own self-awareness. Like two of his most important influences, Robin Trower and Jeff Beck, John Zahn is still on his own musical journey of discovery and creativity.
John's style can best be described as a litany of blues rock guitar with influences of funk, R&B, and classic rock. He has developed a trademark sound that is an inovative blend of both emotion and power.
John's artistic journey of the past 45 years as a musician, composer, and lyricist has led him to where he is today with the formation of  The John Zahn Band. Playing music the way it was meant to be played; Three piece trio, no frills, just fine voices, twelve bar blues, and guitar riffs that lift you out of the seat!
